Parents' Place

Hello.

My name is Lori Wilson and I am very pleased to play a role in the work of KYK9 as a new board member. I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer Jordan Hall, Remy and Scout during a camp for children with autism. I watched as Jennifer demonstrated to the children how to collect scent, which the search dogs used to find them hiding within the confines of the building, by following their scent trail along the way. Although this demonstration captured my attention, it wasn’t until I sat down with Jennifer a few weeks later that I really grasped the depths of KYK9’s mission. The testimony of Jennifer’s journey to building this non-profit to aid families in finding their missing loved ones was overwhelming.

As a mother of three, my children’s safety is of my utmost concern. To imagine the anguish that families must face during the minutes and hours when they realize that their child is missing devastates me. I think as parents we have all experienced those few seconds of panic when we can’t locate our children whether it is on a crowded playground or even within our own home. As Jennifer explained more to me about the Scent for Safety Program, I knew immediately that I wanted to help share this information with other families. The empowerment it provides to parents to be able to take control in a situation that feels helpless is amazing. To learn that after reporting your child missing you can immediately contact KYK9 and have Jennifer and her search dogs looking for your child while authorities process the circumstances surrounding the disappearance was eye opening.

I strongly believe that there is great need in our community to build awareness about KYK9 and how it can be used to find your missing loved one, child or adult. I am looking forward to working with Jennifer and the KYK9 team to help bring awareness to what KYK9 has to offer our community.

Lori Wilson,
Parent and KYK9 Board Member
