Happy Thanksgiving!

This year, KYK9 had a record number of callouts and served a highly diverse population. We searched for an infant, several children, the elderly, two college students, mentally ill adults, several war veterans, a mother of 5-year-old triplets, and the human remains of disaster victims of the Joplin, MO Tornado.

K9 Remy and K9 Scout

K9 Scout, K9 Remy and I are thankful for all law enforcement officers, volunteers, and families who searched with us this year. We have had some wonderful success, finding several missing persons alive. Some missing persons did not survive, but were found and reunited with their families. In a few cases, the missing person was never found. During this season of thanks, I think about the families who did not get closure. I was amazed by the heartfelt gratefulness they expressed for K9 Remy and K9 Scout's search efforts. You, as a KYK9 supporter made it possible for K9 Remy and K9 Scout to help these families. Thank you.

This coming year, KYK9 is introducing new Scent for Safety™ kits. Check back for more information. KYK9 is also starting a monthly e-newsletter, "Super Sniffers in Tiny Vests." We will update you on searches; list upcoming events; provide safety tips; explain how dogs search; share human interest stories; and of course, a word from Remy and Scout.

On behalf of K9 Remy, K9 Scout and the KYK9 team, thank you for your support and interest in KYK9.

Jennifer Jordan Hall,
Executive Director
